No cook, no problem

Our cook quit rather abruptly last week. (Sept 26) She showed up for work and said, "I'm leaving this afternoon.  I'll be on the boat to Brazzaville ready to leave early tomorrow morning."

Since then, it's been "all hands on deck" for meal prep and clean up time.  But we've managed to have some fun doing the work together.

Not quite so much fun that we don't want another cook, though.  We interviewed one on this past Wednesday, and she starts Monday.  We're all hoping she'll work out.
I decided to use the time between cooks to reorganize the pantry- again.

Caleb making bread.

Caleb making faces.

Green beans!  One of everyone's favorite veggies, and not always available here.

Ian requested mashed potatoes, so guess what his job was?

Loving your blogs! So helpful for me to see what life is life in Africa with kids. Question - do you guys have the team lunch at the blue house when you guys are living there? And is Mama Lydie your current cook or is she just the team lunch cook and you have a different one that comes to cook for your family?

Anna

We had a joint lunch for the visitors and our family about the first 1/3 of our time here. It had it's good points, but it's not something I would recommend. I send you more in a message. ;) Mama Lydie is our family's cook, but I wanted her to have a job while we were gone. The normal cook for the visitor was not in the best of help, so she was able to fill in for her. I'm not sure the exact status of the visitors cook now, but I'll see when we get back.
