French Phrases

We studied weather terms in class and learned some interesting phrases that are used here in Quebec.

1) Il fait un froid de canard.
This means that it is the cold of duck. It means really cold, and I think it has some thing to do with the birds migrating.

2) Il fait un temps à ne pas mettre un chien dehors.
This means that it is so cold you would not put your dog outside.

3) Il fait un vent à décorner un boeuf.
This means that it is so wind would blow the horns off of a cow. Of course, after living in Browning for four years, we don't really think that it is that windy!

Winter Festival

We went to a winter festival on Saturday morning. It was sponsored by the town of Lennoxville. They had sledding, and many other winter activities. One of the highlights for the kids was the sleigh ride.

Wheeee!!!

Here is Caleb going down the slide by himself. He wanted to do it over and over. I had a hard time getting him to go inside when it was time. He is with Kristy here one of our neighbors. She and her husband live upstairs from us. They are a young married couple, and the kids love to play with them.

Ready, Set, Go

When the street is plowed, the snow is all piled in the corner of our front yard. It makes a great slide. This is our kids with a couple of neighbors.

More Snow

About 2 weeks ago we had a big snowfall- about 10-12 inches on top of the 12 or so that were already on the ground. I took the kids outside to play along with some of our neighbors. It was such a beautiful day with the thick snow falling.

Our Almost Super Bowl Party

We weren't able to get the superbowl game on TV here. None of us have cable, but some of our neighbors had a party. We had pizza, and and lots of other yummy food, and just enjoyed spending some time together.
