Trip to the Library

The hospital has a small library, and we visited this week.

There's a small section of picture books in English,
and the kids enjoy checking out the same books over and over.

Isabelle loves to read,
and she's always looking for new books.
Karis is waiting patiently while Mama Irene checks out her books.

Ian's reading his book while he waits for everyone to be ready to go.

School- Week 3

Some pictures from last week...
Bible time

Our 4th student :)

Hard at work-
Ian's working on a vocabulary exercise, while Caleb completes his math assignment.

Isabelle working on math

We worked ahead on our morning history reading for the week,
so we could use that time on Friday for other things.
Caleb was coloring a picture of a tiger, and he wanted to make sure he got it all the right colors.

Lingala lessons

Joyce and I have been trying to teach the kids some Lingala.
It's been a challenge for me, since I know very little Lingala.
Fortunately, I have a couple of books to help, and there are many Lingala speakers around who are willing to patiently offer their help.

The kids were using some simple vocabulary to form sentences.
Mama Chantal was there to help and to make sure the completed sentences were correct.

This time last year

Last year, we started the school year in Cut Bank, MT.
We began the first day with a trip to the courthouse to drop off our homeschooling paperwork.

The first weekend in September, we got to spend time with the Parkers.
That was followed by Family Camp at Big Sky Bible Camp
with Central Bible Church of Kalispell.
We spent the second week of school in Kalispell-
school during the day at the Orts' house, mission conference in the evenings.
It was a busy week, but we had a great time.

We took as many opportunities as possible during September to spend more time in Glacier National Park.

Everyone helped get lunch ready on Sunday.  Caleb is helping mix up the bread, while Ian and Isabelle peel and cut potatoes for mashed potatoes.

ICI Academy

Field trip (spring 2013): Colonial Williamsburg
Our official name for our school is "ICI Academy."
It takes the first letter of each child's name:
Ian
Caleb
Isabelle

Also ici means here in French.

We've done school in a variety of places:
our own home
homes of friends and family
hotel rooms
in the car while driving

Fall 2013:
At the airport, heading off for another trip!
