ICI Academy

Field trip (spring 2013): Colonial Williamsburg
Our official name for our school is "ICI Academy."
It takes the first letter of each child's name:
Ian
Caleb
Isabelle

Also ici means here in French.

We've done school in a variety of places:
our own home
homes of friends and family
hotel rooms
in the car while driving

First Day of School!

Time to go back to school!
I can't believe how much has happened since this time last year.
We started the day with Bible.

Caleb is concentrating hard on his Math.
He's doing Singapore Math 4A.

Ian's plugging away at Algebra 1.
We didn't make it through the whole book last year,
and I decided he needed to finish to the bitter end.
Next up: Geometry

This is Isabelle's first year to do Math on the computer.
She's doing Teaching Textbooks Grade 6.
100% on her first assignment!
We still have to have time to play outside!

Back to school after lunch.
Coyote couldn't resist climbing onto the middle of the table.

Molly was also at school.
She was quiet, but she did knock over Isabelle's water once!

Cherissa joined us for our afternoon poetry & read alouds.
The girls picked out some projects to do with their hands while listening.

Art Class

We've been doing a DVD called "The Fundamentals of Drawing" two days a week.
The kids have been enjoying it more than I expected, and they are getting some new ideas for their artwork.
Isabelle has discovered oil pastels, and she has enjoyed experimenting with those.

Ready for School

We're almost ready to start back to school.
It's been a busy summer, filled with lots of work to take care of visitors.
But we've managed to squeeze in some fun things, too.
Putting the map on the wall has helped all of us with our geography!
The kids start the mornings with Bible and journaling after breakfast.
Coyote likes to be in the middle of the action.

Isabelle is constantly drawing, coloring, and creating.

Coyote decided to join Ian while he practiced his math skills on some on-line math games.

Where would I like to go?

The last part of the summer has been full of plans for the new school year.
Coyote thinks he'll see what's so interesting.

Some other things we've done this summer:
Trip to Spain- best part of the summer
Jungle walk (for the kids)
Seen interesting animals- some for the first time!
Drawing classes (pictures to come!)
PE classes
Lingala classes
Thursday mornings at the playground
Trips to the library
Climbing trees
Playing games
Riding bikes
And more!

School starts one week from tomorrow!  We've packed lots into the summer.
