Unpacking

We have received all but one of our boxes from the container. That one seems to be MIA, so we may or may not get it.
Once we heard the boxes were on their way, everyone was full of anticipation. The planes come to the airport here on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. For a couple of weeks we would receive at least a couple of boxes on each plane. That allowed us to unpack a little at a time. All the important things made it here safe and sound. The one box that was missing is mostly clothes. Although I will be disappointed if it never comes, it will be easier to replace or do without than other things. (Not that we will be doing without clothes-- we just won't have as much variety.)
The kids were so excited to find their toys again. Every time we had more boxes, it was like Christmas. The also had a few new things that the Lansdowne Alliance Women (Baltimore) sent while we were packing up the container. Some of those new things I saved for Christmas, but they each got a few as we unpacked the boxes. It was a fun treat for them!
Now all of the boxes are unpacked, and I am slowly rearranging things to make them fit the best they can.

Bicycles and Bats

Our main mode of transportation here is going to be bicycles. Fortunately, they had some ready for us. The kids have really enjoyed theirs so far!

The Blue House- La Maison Bleue

This is our house in Impfondo. We spent one week in Brazzaville, then came to Impfondo and have been busy getting settled into our house. Everyone is doing well and getting adjusted to life in Africa-- lots of new experiences.
Our house is on the hospital compound. This is the front of the house, which faces away from the hospital. We actually use the back (kitchen) door for coming and going, and we also have one door on the side. All of the doors and windows have security screens on them.
Later, I will post pictures of the inside of our house and the yard.

Brazzaville Days

We are back in class today. Stephen has the morning class, and I have the afternoon class. I have lots of pictures of the kids from this weekend that I will try to post this week.

Today I wanted to tell you about a very interesting blog called Brazzaville Days. It is written by the wife of a US diplomat living in Brazzaville (the capital of the Republic of Congo.) It is full of information and pictures of the Congo in general, and Brazzaville in particular.

We will not be living in Brazzaville, but it is the city we will fly into and out of, and visit from time to time.
